Scandlines introduces itself
In 1998, Germany and Denmark moved closer together through a merger of their two largest ferry companies. The German DFO (Deutsche Fährgesellschaft Ostsee) and the Danish Scandlines Danmark A/S formed the joint project Scandlines. The idea behind this merger was to make the service more comfortable, efficient and reliable for passengers. With success, today the eight ships in the fleet transport over seven million people and around two million cars a year on their two traditional routes. The head office is located in Hamburg. The company is proud of its hybrid fleet, which is far more environmentally friendly than traditional ferries with pure diesel engines. The vision for the future is: electric ferries with zero emissions.
Relax with Scandlines to Scandinavia
Depending on the route, Scandlines ferries offer a wide range of gastronomic options, including modern cafeterias, self-service restaurants and buffets. There is more time for enjoyment on the route from Rostock to Gedser. Here you can look forward to an all-inclusive buffet with breakfast, lunch and dinner, drinks included. Those who wish can enjoy their time on the sun deck or opt for a shopping spree in the onboard shop. During the crossing and in German waters, you can choose from a wide range of spirits, cigarettes, wine and sweets. For children, there is a play corner and a nappy-changing room. All ships are barrier-free and accessible for wheelchair users. In line with the fact that more and more Danish and Swedish vacation homes are welcoming pets, Scandlines is also welcoming more and more dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs on board.
