Portsmouth–Le Havre: Brittany Ferries Ends Ferry Service Early
Brittany Ferries has discontinued the ferry service between Portsmouth and Le Havre ahead of schedule. The final Portsmouth–Saint-Malo crossing, originally scheduled for September 28, 2026, has been canceled. A technical issue with the Commodore Clipper is preventing the remaining scheduled sailings from taking place. For affected bookings, passengers may choose between rebooking or a full refund.
Why the Portsmouth–Le Havre game ends early
The permanent suspension of the route was already part of the route network reorganization announced on June 30, 2026. Brittany Ferries is responding to economic pressures, including higher costs and the ongoing repayment of loans taken out during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The technical problem has brought forward the end of service, which had already been planned. The September departures that were canceled will not be rescheduled. There are no plans to resume service on this route after repairs are completed.
What You Can Do With an Existing Reservation
If you booked one of the canceled crossings, you can switch to another Brittany Ferries route or receive a full refund of your fare. Contact the place where you purchased your ticket to arrange the refund, and check the message regarding your booking.
When rebooking, be sure to take the new French port of arrival into account. Your onward travel plans and any accommodations you may have already booked must align with this.
