The shipping company Trasmed GLE

The headquarters of the Spanish shipping company Transmediterranea (Trasmed GLE) is Madrid. The company was founded in 1916 through the merger of four shipping companies. From 1921, the company enjoyed a monopoly position that allowed it to offer all routes to the Spanish islands and Africa. Transmediterranea met the demand for an accelerated ferry service with modern high-speed catamarans and hydrofoils. In 1990, the company was divided into three divisions: Balearic Islands, Sur Estrecho (Strait of Gibraltar) and Canary Islands. Even after the monopoly was lifted in 1998, the company was largely able to maintain its supremacy. Since 2017, Trasmediterranea has been owned by the Naviera Armas shipping company.

With high speed and comfort to the vacation destination

Transmediterranea attaches particular importance to comfort and outstanding service. Depending on Ferry, you can choose from various à la carte and self-service restaurants. There is a wide selection of local and international food and drinks. Cafés and bars round off the gastronomic offer. With shopping facilities, a movie theater and a disco, entertainment is not neglected on longer passages. Depending on how your ship is equipped, you can look forward to a refreshing dip in the pool during the summer months. For your crossing, you can choose a comfortable Pullman chair or give preference to a cabin.

Major Trasmediterranea ferry routes

With its catamarans, super ferries and Ferries, the shipping company connects the Spanish mainland with the Balearic Islands on 57 routes. Thus, Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera can be reached from Barcelona and Valencia. From Cadiz, the Canary Islands of Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Tenerife and La Palma are served. There are also routes to Morocco, Algeria and the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla. On short-haul routes, the shipping company relies on high-speed ferries that guarantee a fast crossing. On longer routes, large ferries are used, which offer passengers a great deal of comfort.
