Holland Norway Lines shipping company introduces itself
The comparatively young Holland Norway Lines (HNL) was founded in 2020. From April 2022, the shipping company’s Ferry will be the first direct connection between the Netherlands and Norway. The aim is to provide passengers with an affordable and sustainable form of travel. With its ferry service, the company wants to break new ground. The vision: a convergence of both countries and emission-free travel thanks to hydrogen, wallshore energy and solar energy.

Sustainable from the Netherlands to Norway
On the MS Romantika, up to 1,500 passengers can look forward to a wide range of culinary delights during the 14-hour night crossing. Whether á la carte or buffet, here you can enjoy your 3-course menu or a wide selection of different dishes, always accompanied by the magnificent view over the North Sea. Even the smallest guests are thought of, for them there are special dishes to choose from. Relaxation is provided by a spa area with sauna, whirlpool and sun deck. If you like shopping, the duty-free store is the right place for you. Relaxing moments await you on board the MS Romantika in comfortably furnished cabins and suites. Booking a berth is mandatory for all passengers. Not all cabins are suitable for passengers with reduced mobility.
For this reason, the shipping company asks that special needs be indicated at the time of booking. Pets are welcome on board. Up to a weight of 20 kilograms, they travel together with their owners in pet-friendly cabins. Kennels are available for larger animals, walking is possible in designated areas.
Major Holland Norway Lines (HNL) ferry routes
As the only route to date, the shipping company offers six crossings a week (three in each direction) connecting the Dutch port of Eemshaven (Groningen) with the Norwegian Kristiansand.
From mid-April 2023 until January 2024, Holland Norway Lines will use the two departure ports of Cuxhaven (April – June 2023) and Emden (June 2023 – January 2024) instead of Eemshaven.
