Port Eemshaven
Eemshaven is a Dutch freight, ferry and energy port. It is part of the municipality of Het Hogeland and thus belongs to the greater Groningen area. Modern windmill parks and a historic mill, in which a visitor center has been set up, meet here. Excursions to the nearby island of Borkum are particularly popular. There will also be a direct ferry connection to Norway from April 2022.

Travel information
Arrival by car
- From the south (via the A7): Take the A7 in the direction of Groningen. Follow the A7 until exit 48-Laagkeppel. Take the N33 and N46 to the ferry port of Eemshaven.
- From the west (via the A28): Use the A28 to Groningen and then change to the N46 towards Eemshaven. Follow the N46 to the ferry port.
- From the east (via the B210 and A31 in Germany): Take the B210 towards Emden, then change to the A31 towards the Netherlands. Cross the border and follow the N33 and N46 to the ferry port of Eemshaven.
Arrival by bus & train
- If you are traveling by train, travel to Groningen station. From there, there are bus connections to the ferry port of Eemshaven.
- Check the current timetables and connections, as buses may not run frequently.
Arrival by plane
- Nearest airport: Groningen Airport Eelde (GRQ): This airport is located about 50 km south of Eemshaven. From there, you can take a cab or hire a car, or take public transport to Groningen and from there take the bus to the ferry port.
- Alternative airport: Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS): From Schiphol you can travel by train to Groningen and then take the bus to the Eemshaven ferry port.
