You have various options for getting to the Sassnitz-Mukran ferry port:
Arrival by car, motorcycle, motorhome
- Coming from Berlin or Hamburg , follow the A20 highway in a north-easterly direction. Take exit 24 towards Stralsund/Rügen/Sassnitz and continue your journey over the Rügen Bridge on the B96 towards Sassnitz. In Sassnitz, follow the signs to the port of Sassnitz-Mukran and the jetty of Bornholmslinjen.
- If you are already on the island of Rügen, take the B196 from Bergen towards Sassnitz, for example. In Sassnitz, follow the signs to the port of Sassnitz-Mukran.
Arrival by public transport (bus & train)
You can also reach the Sassnitz-Mukran ferry port by public transport. For example, you can travel by train to Stralsund and then take a train connection to Sassnitz. In Sassnitz you can then take line 22 of the VVR (Verkehrsgesellschaft Vorpommern-Rügen mbH) to the Mukran Fährhafen stop. From there, it is just 200 meters to the ferry terminal.
From May to October, a direct train (RE27) connects the ferry port of Sassnitz with Bergen station on Rügen twice a day every Saturday and Sunday. The shuttle train allows you to travel from major German cities to Rønne on the island of Bornholm (Denmark) and vice versa.

Arrival by car
- From Malmö (west): Ferry east on the E65 directly to Ystad. As soon as you reach Ystad, drive straight ahead at the traffic circle onto Malmövägen. Follow this to the end and to the next traffic circle, where you go straight ahead again into Sjömansgatan. The ferry port of Ystad is then already signposted.
- From Stockholm (north): Ferries south on the E4, change to the E6 at Helsingborg and drive towards Malmö. In Malmö, change to the E65 and Ferries as described above. You can also drive along the coastal roads. This is the slightly shorter route, but takes a little longer. You will be rewarded with more beautiful scenery.
- From the direction of Gothenburg (northwest): Ferry south on the E6, change to the E65 at Malmö and continue to Ystad. In Ystad, drive as described above.
Arrival by bus & train
- Ystad is well connected to the Swedish rail network. Trains from larger cities such as Stockholm, Malmö and Gothenburg run regularly.
- It is only a few minutes’ walk or cab ride from Ystad station to the ferry port.
- Regional buses also connect Ystad with surrounding towns and regions.
Arrival by plane
- Ferries to the nearest major airport: Malmö Airport (MMX): From there you can hire a car or take the train to Ystad. The journey takes about an hour.

You can reach Sweden in just 2 hours and 30 minutes on this route. This makes it the fastest ferry connection between Germany and Sweden.

The shipping company FRS Baltic offers the fastest ferry connection from Germany to Sweden. The crossing from Sassnitz on the island of Rügen to Ystad takes around 2.5 hours. The route is operated seasonally, with up to three crossings daily from April to October. Please note that the frequency may vary depending on the day of the week and month.
Start at the Sassnitz Mukran ferry port on the island of Rügen
The ferry port of Sassnitz is located in the district of Mukran on the Prorer Wiek. It is the only ferry port on the island of Rügen and offers ferry connections to Bornholm and Ystad. The port is operated under the Mukran Port brand. It has a border store and parking facilities.

The Sassnitz ferry port can be reached directly by car via the B96 and the E251. Arrival by train and bus is also possible without any problems. Sassnitz train station is located about six kilometers from the ferry terminal. Either you take a cab or you take the VVR bus line 22. 150 meters from the bus stop “Mukran Fährhafen” to the pier. The shipping company offers a special luxury with the Berlin shuttle bus, which takes you from Kurfürstendamm directly to the ferry port.
