- From the north(Copenhagen): Ferry south on the E47. Follow the E47 to exit 50-Rødby and then take Færgestationsvej to the ferry terminal.
- From the east(Gedser): Ferries north on Gedser Landvej until you reach Nyköbing. There you change to Route 9 westbound to Saksköbing and then continue on the E47 southwestbound. Follow the E47 to the end, exit 50-Rødbyhavn and then take Færgestationsvej to the ferry port.

The 18.5-kilometer route across the Fehmarnbelt takes the Ferry around 45 minutes. The route operates around the clock all year round, with up to 47 crossings a day every 30 minutes, depending on the season.

The port in Puttgarden is mainly used by ferries and is operated as a private port by Scandlines Deutschland GmbH. It offers moorings for four Ferries. A wooden bridge connects the terminal building with the BorderShop, one of the largest floating border stores in the world.
