Holiday in Holland
Flat and fertile landscapes characterise the appearance of Holland. Sea, dikes, windmills and tulip fields exude Dutch charm. And the cities enchant their visitors with historic old towns, colourful facades, ornate gables, picturesque canals and great art.
TOP excursion destinations in Holland
Holland’s capital Amsterdam stands for beautiful gabled houses, idyllic canals, famous museums and a legendary red light district. Original works by the famous painter hang in the Van Gogh Museum and the Anne Frank House provides insights into the hidden life in the back of the house.
The Hague knows how to impress with its historic old town, exciting sights and its own beach. In the Paleis Noordeinde the king has his workplace and in the Binnenhof the Dutch parliament meets. The miniature land Madurodam and the picturesque pier in Scheveningen are also absolutely worth a visit.
The medieval fortified town of Naarden has a double fortress wall and a double moat. Within the walls you will find historic buildings, underground casemates and a 14th century basilica.
With its 200 bedrooms, Kasteel de Haar is the largest castle in the Netherlands. A wealthy aristocratic family had the castle built and luxuriously furnished from 1892. The fairytale castle lies in the middle of a well-kept garden and is surrounded by a landscaped park.
From March to May, the gardens of Keukenhof Castle are a fascinating place. Up to 4.5 million tulip bulbs are planted by hand here every year. A large park, inspiration gardens and a sculpture park invite you to take long walks.
If you are fascinated by windmills, you should pay a visit to the small village of Kinderdijk. 19 historic mills are located here and are still fully functional today. They were originally built to drain the surrounding canal systems.
