New Ferry Service: POLSCA Baltic Ferries Launches Route Between Gdańsk and Karlshamn
Ferry service between Poland and Sweden continues to expand. POLSCA Baltic Ferries will launch a new ferry service between Gdańsk and Karlshamn on July 6, 2026. The new route is aimed at both vacationers and freight forwarders and will strengthen connections between Central Europe and Scandinavia.
Fourth Sweden Route for POLSCA Baltic Ferries
With Karlshamn, POLSCA Baltic Ferries is adding its fourth Swedish port to its route network. In addition to Karlshamn, the shipping company already connects Poland with Nynäshamn, Ystad, and Trelleborg.
The new route creates another travel option between Poland and southern Sweden while also providing additional capacity for freight transport.

Up to six departures per week
For the launch of the new route, up to six crossings per week in each direction are planned. The initially published schedule is valid through August 16, 2026. After that, service is expected to be expanded gradually.
The crossing takes about 13 hours. The Ferries depart in the evening and arrive at their destination the next morning. This makes the route particularly well-suited for longer trips by car or RV, as well as for freight transport.
Two Ferries are in service
The new route will be served by two ships:
- SKANIA handles the bulk of passenger traffic and provides cabins, restaurants, and other onboard facilities.
- COPERNICUS supplements the schedule and, above all, provides additional cargo capacity. Passengers may also travel on select departures.
Excellent connections to Sweden, Denmark, and Norway
The Port of Karlshamn is located on Sweden’s southeastern coast and has direct access to the E22. From there, you can quickly reach:
As a result, the new route is not only ideal for travel to southern Sweden, but also offers a convenient way to reach Denmark or Norway.
More Flexibility for Freight Forwarders
The new connection also offers advantages for freight transport. In the future, companies will be able to plan their shipments more flexibly—for example, entering the country through one Swedish port and returning via another.
This creates additional opportunities for the movement of goods between Poland, Sweden, Denmark, and southern Norway.
