GNV Launches New Ferry Service Between Civitavecchia and Annaba
The new GNV Ferry service between Civitavecchia, Italy, and Annaba, Algeria, is now in operation. The maiden voyage departed from Civitavecchia on August 8, 2026. The following morning, the “GNV Cristal” arrived at the port of Annaba.
This seasonal route establishes the first-ever direct GNV connection between Italy and eastern Algeria. This means that travelers from Rome and central Italy no longer need to travel to a port of departure in France or northern Italy.
Two departures per week to Algeria
GNV offers two departures per week during the summer season. The Ferries depart from Civitavecchia on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The return trip from Annaba to Civitavecchia can also be booked directly.
The direct crossing is expected to take about 24 hours and 30 minutes. The “GNV Cristal” will be used for this route. You should double-check the travel times and departure dates for your specific travel dates before booking.

First crossing successfully completed
The first “GNV Cristal” arrived in Annaba on August 9, 2026. After disembarking passengers and vehicles, the ship set sail for Civitavecchia that same day. This marked the start of operations for the new route, as previously announced.
The schedule released so far focuses on the summer season. It has not yet been confirmed whether the service will continue year-round.
Traveling by Car with the Family
