FRS Helgoline expands route offer: from Brunsbüttel to Cuxhaven and Helgoland
From April 3, 2024, FRS Helgoline will be bringing the high-speed catamaran “Halunder Jet” to Brunsbüttel to offer trips to Cuxhaven and Helgoland from there. The Flensburg-based shipping company is thus expanding its range of departure points for the Heligoland route around Schleswig-Holstein.
New departure point for Heligoland trips
If you’ve always wanted to visit the breathtaking island of Heligoland, now you have an even better opportunity. With the new departure point in Brunsbüttel, FRS Helgoline offers a convenient travel option from Schleswig-Holstein.
Anniversary and expansion of the range
This year, FRS Helgoline celebrates its 40th anniversary and at the same time opens a new chapter in its history by expanding its range to include Brunsbüttel. Tim Kunstmann, Managing Director of FRS Helgoline, is pleased with the development: “We are delighted to now be able to offer our passengers departures to Heligoland from Schleswig-Holstein in addition to Hamburg and Lower Saxony.”
Fast crossings with the “Halunder Jet”
The “Halunder Jet” offers fast and comfortable crossings to Heligoland. From Brunsbüttel, the crossing takes about two hours. The catamaran docks in the inland port, allowing passengers to arrive directly in the center of the island and make effective use of their time.
Tickets and discounts
The trips with the “Halunder Jet” from Brunsbüttel are now available online on the FRS Helgoline website or at the ticket counters at the ferry terminals. And here’s the best part: there is a 20% online discount for all bookings for the ferries from Brunsbüttel made by March 31, 2024! So get your tickets quickly and save money.

Improvements to the ferry terminal in Brunsbüttel
To make the new trips to Heligoland possible, FRS Helgoline has purchased the former ferry pier from Elbferry in Brunsbüttel and will modify it for catamaran operations. The car ramp will be completely retained. The shipping company is also planning to further develop the traffic at the jetty in Brunsbüttel and the associated area.
New Elbe ferry Brunsbüttel-Cuxhaven
Since the bankruptcy of Elbferry, many holidaymakers and locals have wished for the Ferry Brunsbüttel – Cuxhaven to be resumed. The use of FRS Helgoline is now a first step in this direction. Even if the new connection can only be booked for pedestrians. But perhaps by retaining the car ramp in Brunsbüttel we still have hope that the return of a car ferry on this route has at least not yet been written off completely.
