Travel tip: Day trip to Denmark

Take a day trip to Denmark with the Scandlines Ferries

The beautiful Denmark is one of the most popular travel and excursion destinations at the Baltic Sea. It attracts with its enchanting landscape, its countless sandy beaches and rocks as well as its fresh sea air. Denmark is also an ideal destination for a day trip to the Baltic Sea. In addition to its impressive natural landscape, the Baltic Sea region offers many sights, family-friendly islands and plenty of leisure activities for adults and children.

Day trip to Ferries in Denmark

The Danish islands are particularly easy to reach from Germany by Scandlines Ferries. The Puttgarden-Rödby Ferry is available in Schleswig-Holstein and departs from Fehmarn. Another option for a day trip is the Ferries Rostock-Gedser in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

The journey by Ferries does not take much time. It only takes 45 minutes from Puttgarden to the Danish island of Lolland via the Vogelfluglinie. From Rödby, the highway leads towards Zealand and Denmark’s capital Copenhagen. The Ferries between Puttgarden and Rödby operate around the clock.

This is also the case with the Rostock-Gedser ferry connection, but not as frequently. The journey from Rostock to Gedser takes around two hours. Both routes are operated by Scandlines. Tickets can be purchased in advance on the Internet.

Even the journey on the Ferries offers a wonderful view of the Baltic Sea. While the adults enjoy the flair on board, the children can explore the ship. There are also shops and restaurants to pass the time.

The Scandlines day ticket

The Scandlines day ticket is highly recommended. It includes the outward and return journey from 80 euros on the same calendar day. It is valid for all departures after 6 a.m. on the day of booking. There is a seat guarantee for the booked outward journey.

Experience Denmark’s most beautiful sights in one day

There is a lot to see on a day trip to Denmark. These include natural attractions such as the sea and beaches, leisure pools and a variety of different activities.

Start day trip from Falster

The best starting point for a day trip across the Baltic Sea is the picturesque harbour town of Falster, which scores with its rural atmosphere. Falster’s old town is perfect for a stroll through the shops. Another place of interest is the white lighthouse. From there it goes to the southernmost point of Denmark. The geological museum is also worth a visit. The tour can be finished in one of the harbour restaurants, where delicious fish menus are served.

Admire the impressive nature of Møn

The Baltic Sea island of Møn has a very special natural attraction to offer. The imposing megalithic sites are considered particularly impressive. Together with the Jelling burial mounds, which can be found on Jutland, they are among the most important archaeological sites in Denmark and are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Numerous relics on the coast of the Baltic Sea date back to the Viking era between 800 and 1066 and bear witness to the times. Vikings are often the focus of attention at exhibitions, festivals and fairs. For example, you can sample dishes and drinks from the period, admire historical costumes or purchase typical souvenirs as a memento. A day trip to Mön is also worthwhile at any time of year.
