The shipping company Smyril Line
The shipping company Smyril Line was founded in 1982. Three officers of the Strandfaraskip Landsins shipping company had decided that they wanted to operate their own shipping line. They bought a Ferry, had it renovated, christened it MS Norröna and started their first season in the summer of 1983. The beginning of a success story. Demand grew steadily and made it necessary to deploy a larger Ferry. Since 2003, the new MS Norröna has been taking its maximum of 1,500 passengers and 800 cars safely to their destinations. The company’s headquarters are located in Tórshavn on the Faroe Islands.
