- From the south (via the E45): Ferry north on the E45 to the end of the highway at Aalborg. Then follow route 180 towards Frederikshavn. In Frederikshavn follow the signs to the ferry port (Færgehavnsvej).
- From the direction of Aarhus (via Route 16): Ferry north on Route 16 to the junction with the E45 and then change to the E45 northbound. Follow the instructions as described above.

Travel by car to the DFDS ferry terminal in Copenhagen
- From the south (via E6): Ferries on the E6 in the direction of Oslo. Follow the signs to the city center and then to the DFDS ferry terminal Vippetangen.
- From the west (via E18): Ferry towards Oslo on the E18. In Oslo, change to Ring 1 and follow the signs to the DFDS ferry terminal at Vippetangen.
- From the east (via E6): Ferry on the E6 towards Oslo. In Oslo, change to the Ring 3, then to the E18/Ring 1 towards the DFDS ferry terminal at Vippetangen.
