Port Marseille
The port city of Marseille is dominated by its imposing landmark, the Basilica Notre-Dame de la Garde. Two million people visit the famous pilgrimage church every year. In the old harbour Vieux-Port, two fortresses and the lively city centre await the visitor. From there, the Canebière boulevard with its beautiful buildings invites you to go shopping. Magnificent architecture can be experienced during a visit to the Palais Longchamp. Could there be a more suitable location for the Museum of Fine Arts than here in the Water Tower Palace? Napoleon III had an imperial residence with extensive gardens built in Marseille and the Château d’If, which is situated on a rocky island, became world-famous thanks to Alexandre Dumas.
