Three new Ferries for Finnlines
“Hansa Superstar” class to start from 2028 on the route Travemünde- Helsinki
More comfort, more sustainability – Finnlines invests in the future
Finnlines, part of the Grimaldi Group, has announced the construction of three new RoPax ships for the Travemünde- Helsinki route. The so-called “Hansa Superstars” will operate under the Finnish flag from 2028 and continue the successful “Superstar” class – but in a further developed version tailored to the longer Baltic Sea route.
Environmentally friendly on the road: methanol instead of diesel
All of the Grimaldi Group’s new ships – nine in total – will be equipped with engines that can run on methanol. This significantly reduces emissions and brings the Group much closer to its goal of net zero emissions. In addition to modern propulsion technology, other green innovations are also being used: optimized hull and propeller shapes, energy-efficient power systems, shore power connections and a special silicone coating on the hull.
Comfort on board the Hansa Superstars
The three new Finnlines ships offer everything you could want for a relaxing crossing:
-
240 meter length
-
5,100 loading meters for trucks and trailers
-
Space for 90 cars (with less freight, more cars are also possible)
-
320 cabins for up to 1,100 passengers
On board you will find:
-
Five bars and restaurants, including a highlight: the panorama bar in the bow on deck 12 with spectacular views of the Baltic Sea
-
A spacious spa area with Finnish sauna
-
Two play areas for children in different age groups
-
Stores for the little shopping trip in between
New standards for the Baltic Sea
With the Hansa Superstars, Finnlines is setting new standards in terms of comfort and environmental friendliness. The design is based on the successful sister ships Finnsirius and Finncanopus, but has been specifically adapted for the longer connection between Germany and Finland. New cabin categories and catering concepts are designed to make your stay on board even more pleasant.
A look into the future: part of a construction project worth billions
The Grimaldi Group is investing a total of USD 1.3 billion in the construction of nine new RoPax ships, which will be delivered between 2028 and 2030. Three of these will go to Finnlines, while the remaining six are destined for the Mediterranean and will be operated under the Grimaldi Lines and Minoan Lines brands.
