New ferry alliance: PolSca Baltic Ferries strengthens connection between Poland and Scandinavia
Polferries, Unity Line and EuroAfrica join forces
Three major players in the Polish ferry industry have joined forces: Polferries, Unity Line and EuroAfrica Shipping Lines are establishing a joint shipping company, PolSca Baltic Ferries. The aim is to strengthen the maritime connection between Poland and Scandinavia and to better position Poland in the European ferry market.
A joint venture with a clear focus
The new company PolSca Baltic Ferries S.A. has its headquarters in Świnoujście. The shareholders are in equal shares:
- Polska Żegluga Morska (PŻM) – state-owned, operator of Unity Line
- EuroAfrica Shipping Lines – private, part of Hass Holdings and operator of Unity Line
- Polska Żegluga Bałtycka (PŻB) – state-owned, operator of Polferries
The new alliance combines many years of experience and fleet capacities in one company.
Fleet & expansion plans
At the start, the fleet comprises ten Ferries:
- Unity Line and EuroAfrica bring in three ships
- Polferries four ships
In addition, three new RoPaxFerries are currently under construction. They are being built at Remontowa Shiprepair Yard in Gdansk. The first new ship is named JANTAR UNITY and is scheduled for delivery this year – including new PolSca branding.
Connections & new destinations
PolSca will initially take over the known routes:
But it will not stop there: New routes and destinations are already being planned and will be announced soon.
Why PolSca Baltic Ferries is important
This merger is the industry’s response to growing demand, rising environmental standards and the need for efficient structures. At the same time, it strengthens the competitiveness of the Polish ferry market compared to large Scandinavian and German shipping companies.
For passengers, this means more capacity, modern ships and new route options on the Baltic Sea.
