Ferry Superfast IX returns after 15 years
Tallink Grupp celebrates the return of its ship Superfast IX (formerly Atlantic Vision) after 15 years in Canada. On May 14, the ship was handed over to the shipping company at the Fayard shipyard in Denmark.
End of a 15-year charter
After a long charter in Canada, where the ferry operated between Newfoundland and Sydney, Nova Scotia, the Superfast IX completed its last voyage on the Canadian route on March 15 of this year. The ship left Canada at the beginning of April and was prepared for its return to the Tallink Grupp.
Return to Tallinn
On May 14, the Superfast IX was handed back to the Tallink Grupp at the Fayard shipyard in Denmark and left Denmark for Tallinn. The ferry is expected to arrive in Tallinn on Thursday, May 16. She will initially be moored in the port of Paljassaare until a decision is made on her future deployment.
New old route for the Superfast IX?
A return to one of the old routes on which the ship was deployed before the change to Marine Atlantic would of course also be conceivable. The former ferry connections Rostock – Hanko and Rostock – Helsinki – Tallinn were not only very popular with tourists. However, another charter operation or a sale of the ferry would also be quite conceivable.
