The shipping company Toremar
With its ferry and high-speed fleet, the Toremar shipping company(Toscana Regionale Marittima) has been connecting the Italian mainland with the islands of the Tuscan archipelago since 1975. In 2011, the company was initially acquired by shipping company Moby Lines before becoming part of Tirrenia in 2018. The eight Ferries s in the fleet are considered modern and well equipped. Stabilizers are designed to ensure a smooth crossing in wind and weather. The company attaches particular importance to customer contact, comfort, punctuality and cleanliness.

With comfortable seats, gastronomic offer and customer-friendly service, the shipping company wants to satisfy its customers. All Ferries have a cafeteria and an air-conditioned lounge area. If you wish, you can also spend your crossing on the sun deck. For children there is a well-equipped play area. Barrier-free access guarantees carefree travel for people with disabilities. If requested, Toremar provides free assistance during embarkation and disembarkation and throughout the stay. There is WLAN on board, so that you can also access the Internet at sea. Smaller animals travel free of charge in a transport box, larger animals are charged a fee. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times, and muzzling is compulsory throughout the journey.
Major Torremar ferry routes
From the Italian mainland there are routes to the islands of Elba, Giglio, Capraia, Gorgona and Pianosa all year round. Ferries to Gorgona and Capraia depart from Livorno. From Piombino, you can reach the small island of Pianosa and the ferry ports of Portoferraio, Rio Marina and Cavo on the island of Elba. Toremar also offers a ferry connection to Giglio from Porto Santo Stefano. Fast hydrofoils are used on the following routes: Cavo – Portoferraio, Piombino – Cavo, Piombino – Portoferraio. However, these are intended exclusively for passenger transport.
