The shipping company NLG

NLG (Navigazione Libera del Golfo) is an Italian ferry company that has been providing maritime connections in the Gulf of Naples for over 80 years, in particular to the beautiful island of Capri, the Sorrento Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast, as well as in the Adriatic Sea to the Tremiti Islands. The company is currently managed exclusively by the Aponte family, which comes from Sorrento and has a long maritime tradition that goes back to the 17. and 18th century.

The recent history of the company began in 1953 with the motor ships “Italia” and “Linda”, followed by “Santa Teresa”, “Santa Lucia Luntana”, “Santa Maria del Mare”, “Santa Rita”, “Pola” and later by M/n “Patrizia” and “Mergellina”. In 1981 the company “NLG – Navigazione Libera del Golfo S.r.l.” was founded. was founded and there was a profound transformation of the company and the fleet. In quick succession, modern monohull ships with hydrojet propulsion were purchased, which gradually replaced the old motor ships: the “Capri Jet” in 1988, the “Sorrento Jet” in 1990, the “Napoli Jet” in 1991, the “Amalfi Jet” in 1993 and the “Ischia Jet” in 1995.
