• From the direction of Amsterdam (south): Ferry along the A9 towards Alkmaar and take the IJmuiden exit. Follow the A22/N202 towards IJmuiden and then take the N197 and N202 to the DFDS ferries terminal at Sluisplein.
• From Haarlem (east): Ferries west on the A200/N200, then on the A9 and A22/N202 towards IJmuiden. Follow the signs to the DFDS ferry terminal at Sluisplein.

• From the south (via the A1): Ferry north on the A1 to junction 80 and then follow signs for the A19 towards the Tyne Tunnel. After the tunnel, take the A187 exit towards North Shields.
• From the north (via the A1): Ferry south on the A1 and change to the A19 towards the Tyne Tunnel. After the tunnel, take the A187 exit towards North Shields.
• From the west (via the A69): Ferry east on the A69 to Newcastle and then change to the A1 northbound. Follow the A1 to exit 80 and then take the A19 towards the Tyne Tunnel. After the tunnel, take the A187 exit towards North Shields.

The Ferry from Amsterdam to Newcastle is operated exclusively by the shipping company DFDS Seaways. The classic crossing between the Netherlands and the north of England is offered up to seven times a week throughout the year and takes 16 hours and 45 minutes.

Start from Amsterdam ferry port

The Ferries to Newcastle depart in the evening from the Sluisplein ferry terminal at the entrance to the Vissershaven. The ferry terminal has guarded parking.

Journey to the port of departure Amsterdam

You can reach the ferry terminal by car via the A9 from Amsterdam and The Hague. If you travel by train, you have to change buses at Amsterdam Centraal station. The Brouwers bus company provides direct connections to the terminal on departure days between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Of course, it is also possible to travel by cab from Amsterdam city center, although you can expect to pay 60 euros one way.
