Port Rotterdam
The Dutch port city of Rotterdam exudes big city flair. It was almost completely destroyed during the Second World War, and its modern and futuristic cityscape emerged after reconstruction. The district of Delfshaven still has an intact old town and a museum harbour. Rotterdam’s new market hall is a truly fascinating place. The hall’s ceiling is adorned with an 11,000-square-foot work of art made of 4,000 panes of glass called “Horn of Plenty” – an unforgettable experience. The close connection to the sea becomes tangible during a harbour tour, in the Havenmuseum or in the Maritiem Museum. Remarkable: the port of Rotterdam is the largest seaport in Europe and the third largest in the world!
