Port Mariehamn

Mariehamn is a Finnish port city on the island of Fasta Åland. Interesting is the fact that Swedish is spoken there. The heart of the small town is the market square with the parliament building, music pavilion and bell tower. A well-kept park surrounds the town hall of the city. The esplanades invite you to take a walk. Absolutely worth seeing are the renovated wooden houses and boat sheds at the eastern harbour. They offer perfect postcard motifs, as do the small seafarers’ chapel and the old pilot station. At the Westhafen visitors will find the Schifffahrtmuseum and the imposing four-master “Pommern”.
