Port Le Havre
Where the Seine flows into the English Channel lies the port city of Le Havre. It suffered the tragic destruction of over 80 percent of its buildings during World War II. An architect was commissioned with the reconstruction and created a unique reinforced concrete architecture from the rubble, which still characterizes the cityscape today. Visitors to Le Havre will therefore look in vain for historic buildings, with the exception of the 16th century Notre-Dame church. The church of Saint Joseph fascinates with its many colorful stained glass windows, while the town hall square and Bassin du Commerce invite you to take a leisurely stroll through the city.
