In the Gulf of Thailand lies the second largest island of the country. Fantastic beaches, palm trees and turquoise sea make Koh Samui the perfect holiday island. Probably the most spectacular sight of the island is the 12 meter high golden Buddha statue in the temple Wat Phra Yai. It is picturesquely situated on a tiny island that can be reached via a causeway. A visit to the Samui Elephant Sanctuary gives visitors the opportunity to get up close and personal with these unique animals.
