The history of the Finnish port town dates back to the 13th century, when around 240,000 emigrants set off from here on the long journey to the New World. At the end of the 19th century, Hanko became popular as a seaside resort for the Russian upper class, and the magnificent villas in the spa gardens still bear witness to its former prosperity. Arrival by car
How to get to the ferry port of Hanko in Finland by car:
- From the east (e.g. Helsinki): Ferry west on highway 25/E12 until you reach Hanko. In Hanko, simply follow the signs to the harbor.
- From the north (e.g. Turku): Take the E18 highway in an easterly direction to Isokylä. There you change to road 52 south to Hanko.
Arrival by bus & train
Hanko is well connected to the Finnish rail and bus network. Hanko railroad station and the central bus station are located close to the harbor. Check the current timetable for train and bus connections.
Arrival by plane
