Øresundslinjen becomes even more environmentally friendly
Inhaltsverzeichnis
Green connection between Sweden and Denmark – The ferry connection between Helsingborg and Helsingør is becoming even more environmentally friendly. Following the electrification of the ferries TYCHO BRAHE and AURORA in 2016, Øresundslinjen is now also converting the third Ferry, HAMLET, to battery operation. These batteries are charged using wind and solar energy.
Efficient battery technology
The new battery system for the HAMLET will be delivered in the first half of 2025. It is designed to last for at least ten years without the battery having to be replaced. Charging the batteries in the ports of Helsingør and Helsingborg takes just eleven minutes on average.
Environmentally friendly departures
The HAMLET offers around 8,000 departures per year, which will soon be fully electric. This means that 95 percent of all 41,000 annual departures on the route between Denmark and Sweden are powered by clean green electricity. This reduces the total climate impact of the route to less than 1500 tons of CO2 per year.
Fast and frequent connections
Øresundslinjen offers up to 55 departures per day in each direction. During rush hour there is a departure every 20 minutes. In just 20 minutes you can cross the Öresund quickly, environmentally friendly and cheaply.
