Holiday in England

Whether Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Tower Bridge or Stonehenge – England offers its visitors some of the most famous sights in the world. There are also varied stretches of coastline and landscapes with an unmistakable character. Castles, stately homes, gardens and five o’clock tea make your England holiday perfect.

TOP excursion destinations in England

England’s main city London offers a wealth of famous sights. What would a visit be without Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and Towerbridge? Whether Hyde Park, London Eye, Madame Tussauds, Picadilly Circus or Trafalgar Square, London invites everywhere to an eventful city stroll.

Already in the year 1066 the construction of the tower was started. Executions once took place here and polar bears, lions and elephants were kept in the royal zoo for centuries. Today, visitors come mainly for the crown jewels. There are said to be more than 25,000 of them and their value is estimated at 20 trillion pounds.

Canterbury Cathedral impresses not only because of its size. After all, it is 160 meters long, its tower 72 meters high. Inside it conceals medieval stained glass windows, a filigree vaulted ceiling and bells up to 700 years old.

England enchants its guests with a multitude of castles and palaces. Dover Castle once guarded the English Channel, Arundel Castle is still one of the best-preserved medieval castles, Elizabeth I was briefly imprisoned in Leeds Castle, Warwick Castle impresses with its magnificent halls and St. Michael’s Mount with its unique island location.

Already 2,000 years ago, the Romans appreciated the hot springs of Bath and left behind a unique spa architecture. Later, high society spent their spa stays here. Magnificent buildings in the Georgian style still characterise the image of this fascinating city today.

A visit to the Stonehenge stone circle site will be remembered forever. For its dimensions are monumental, the achievement of its builders almost unimaginable. Construction began in the third millennium B.C. and to this day, legends and myths surround this mystical place.

The botanical garden with the beautiful name Eden Project is unique in its kind. Tropical, subtropical and Mediterranean plants grow in the two huge futuristic greenhouses. The preservation of endangered and old varieties is particularly close to the hearts of the operators.

A hike along the Hadrian’s Wall Path National Trail connects the Atlantic Ocean with the North Sea over a distance of 117 kilometers. The wall, which was up to six metres high, made it possible to channel border traffic and levy customs duties.

The Lake District National Park is characterized by the Cumbrian Mountains, green valleys
and clear glacial lakes. There are numerous hiking and biking trails to explore lakes, waterfalls and picturesque villages.
