Port Tunis
Tunisia’s capital invites you to a colourful mix of oriental old town and modern new town. The crossing is marked by the former city gate Port de France. The medina (old town) was built in the 9th century and has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1979. Here the alleys are winding, its center is the Ez-Zitouna mosque. Around the mosque the market quarter with its many souks (market alleys) invites to extensive discovery tours. In the new town, we recommend a stroll along Avenue Habib Bourguiba with its many stores, restaurants and cafés. The boulevard leads from the harbour to the old town.

Travel information
Arrival by car
- From the south (e.g. Sfax): Take the A1 north to Tunis and follow the signs to La Goulette and the ferry port.
- From the west (e.g. Kairouan): Take the A1 eastbound to Tunis and then follow the signs to La Goulette and the ferry port.
- From the direction of Bizerte (north): Ferry south on the A4 and change to the A1 towards Tunis. Then follow the signs to La Goulette and the ferry port.
Arrival by bus & train
The Tunis ferry port is well connected to the Tunisian rail and bus network. Take the train or bus to Tunis central station and change there to local transport, which will take you directly to La Goulette.
Arrival by plane
- Tunis-Carthage Airport (TUN): The airport is located northeast of Tunis. From there, you can take a cab or a bus that will take you directly to the ferry port in La Goulette.
